R-21-06 GENERAL Bulletin

The following is a copy of the R-21-06 Consumer Letter. Vehicles affected by the bulletin will receive notification by email to the address the vehicle is registered to.
Dear Polaris Owner,
Polaris Industries Inc. is issuing a stop ride notice to affected vehicle owners of certain Model Year 2020‑2022 GENERAL 1000 and GENERAL XP 1000 models because we have determined that some units may have steering wheels that were inadvertently overloaded during transport from the manufacturing facility to dealers. An overloaded steering wheel may fail during operation and in some cases result in a separation of the steering wheel spoke(s), which can result in loss of control, posing a crash hazard. Our records indicate that you have purchased one of these vehicles.
Polaris is currently evaluating a repair for this issue. We will provide you with details of the remedy as soon as possible. At the time of availability, Polaris will notify dealers and reply to you by mail (and email if available). This work will be performed by your dealer at no cost to you. Polaris has informed the Consumer Product Safety Commission about the issue.
What You Should Do:
  • Visit our Off‑Road Safety Recall page to verify if your off‑road vehicle is impacted by this stop ride notice by searching by the model or vehicle identification number (VIN).
  • Your local Polaris Dealer can be found on our Dealer Locator page.
  • Do not attempt repairs yourself. Repairs must be done only by an authorized Polaris Dealer.

While your dealer is in the best position to answer your questions, you can also contact our Polaris Owner Connections Department at 1‑800‑POLARIS  (1‑800‑765‑2747) to speak with a representative.
This notice was sent to you according to our most current registration information. If you no longer own this vehicle, or if some of the information in this notice is incorrect, please contact your dealer to complete a transfer of ownership. Federal law requires that any vehicle lessor receiving this notice must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within 10 days.
We will keep you updated on our next steps and apologize for the inconvenience. Polaris assures you that we are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
Thank you for being a Polaris owner.
