A hot engine or exhaust system can cause severe burns and ignite flammable material. Ensure adequate time for cooling before storing or transporting your generator. When operating or transporting the generator, be sure it is kept upright. If the generator tilts, fuel may leak. Be sure the fuel tank cap is tight during transportation.
Transporting your generator with gasoline in the fuel tank is prohibited, as it could result in severe generator damage or serious injury or death. You can find the fuel draining procedure in your generator's Owner's Manual: P5500 and P6500, P3200iE or P2000i.
Take care not to drop or strike the generator when transporting it. Do not place heavy objects on the generator. When transporting, firmly secure the generator to the transport vehicle.
To transport your generator, follow these steps:
1. Ensure the generator has cooled completely before loading it on the transport vehicle. If the generator has been used, allow it to cool for at least 15 minutes.
2. Drain the fuel from the tank and carburetor. You can find the fuel draining procedure in your Owner's Manual.
3. Ensure the fuel vent, if equipped, is CLOSED.
4. Position the engine or ignition switch to OFF.
5. Position the fuel valve switch to OFF.
6. Firmly secure the generator to the transport vehicle. Keep the generator level to reduce the possibility of fuel leakage.
