Always wear safety glasses and nitrile gloves when servicing your generator.
To clean or replace the air filter on your Polaris P2000i generator, follow these steps:
1. Place the generator on a flat, level surface.
2. With a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the two maintenance cover fasteners. Pivot the cover out and remove the cover.
3. Route the fuel hoses away from the airbox.
4. Clean the area around the airbox thoroughly.
5. With a 10mm socket or Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw from the front of the airbox, and remove the cover.
6. Remove the air filter and inspect for any damage or excessive debris. Replace as needed.
7. If reusing the air filter, submerge the filter in a solution of warm water and household detergent.
- Squeeze out the excess water after soaking. Repeat several times until the water coming from the filter is clean.
- Once completely dry, apply air filter oil to the foam filter and distribute evenly. Remove any excess oil, and replace if any damage occurs to the filter.
8. Clean the inside of the airbox and cover thoroughly.
9. Reinstall the air filter, and ensure it is fully seated.
10. Reinstall the airbox cover, ensuring a proper fit. With a 10mm socket, torque the fastener to 6 to 7.4 ft-lbs (8 to 10 Nm).
11. Reposition the fuel hoses in their holders at the bottom of the generator.
12. Reinstall the maintenance cover by aligning the bottom tabs and pivoting in to align the mounting holes. Then install the fasteners and torque until fully seated.
